An Inflection Point

It’s been an amazing journey so far at SGNL. I’m humbled every day by the people who have joined us since Scott and I left Google and founded SGNL last year. Supportive investors, a talented team of industry experts, and lots of areas to innovate on – I can’t think of a better way to address one of the hardest problems in identity.

And now, at the Identiverse 2022 conference in Denver, we will be revealing our product for the first time.

This event not only represents the hard work we’ve put in over the past few months, but also the decades of combined experience of the team of identity experts we’ve brought together from companies like Okta, Google, Microsoft, Salesforce, and Amazon to solve one of the most important and difficult problems we’ve seen affecting enterprises. It also represents the feedback and collective wisdom we have received from customers and design partners, who have both reinforced our faith in our core value proposition, as well as guided what we’ve built.

Enterprise authorization is at an inflection point. It has, unfortunately, also been a source of a few, recent high-profile breaches. Traditional approaches such as RBAC and ABAC are showing their limits, and the resultant privilege sprawl has risen in CIOs’ and CISOs’ minds as a top problem to be solved. A modern approach to enterprise authorization is therefore sorely needed.

One that can grant access just-In-time using human-readable policies while leveraging the full context of the enterprise. For example, a system that can ensure access to customer data by a customer support rep is only granted if there’s an open ticket assigned to them for that customer. It’s an innovative way to approach what modern authorization should look like in the enterprise.

Come See SGNL in Action

We’ll be at the Identiverse conference for anyone who wants to see SGNL in person (find us at booth 1614). You can see, for the first time, how our dynamic graph directory ingests and joins data from multiple enterprise systems of record. We’ve built an intuitive and appealing UI and simple, human-readable statements to make it easy to define effective policies that anyone can understand (not just its author). It’s how we envision policies can be more effectively leveraged to enforce just-in-time access across applications and how every decision is audited. We will also present our solution in the Showcase Theater 2 on Wednesday, June 22 at 5:50PM.

We ❤️ Open Standards

At SGNL, we’re big believers in open standards and how they will enable easier exchange of authorization information between independent vendors in the future. Our CTO, Atul Tulshibagwale, is moderating a panel on zero-trust standards with panelists from Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Okta and Cisco.
